En el Mundo de los Muertos, los altos cargos portan armas llamadas "Guadañas Mortales". Éstas se consiguen cuando el alma de una Guadaña (creada por un Técnico especialista) consigue comerse 99 almas humano-demonio y 1 alma de bruja. Pero la vida no siempre es fácil, ni para Técnicos ni para Guadañas, y puede costar trabajo llegar a ser una "Guadaña Mortal". Soul y Maka son los protagonistas de este anime (Soul el arma y Maka el técnico) junto con Black Star y su arma Tsubaki, y Death the Kid con las hermanas Thompson como armas (pistolas).
